The Forrest City Fall Festival is back this year with lots of events including the hot air balloons! There will pony rides, a petting zoo, bouncers, train rides, a rock wall, costume contest, live music and so much more.  On the 31st from 5:30 till 7 p.m will be the balloon glow. Then on the 1st the festival will be from 2-6 p.m., hot air balloon race will start at 7 a.m. & 4 p.m., and the trunk or treat will be at 4 p.m., and at 6 p.m. there will be an outdoor family movie. Call for 4-H Service Projects (October 1st)

The St. Francis County 4-H has extended its "one day of service" to last the entire month of October.  The SFC Sharp Shooters and More club has proposed a Feed the Vets Day, and they're welcoming any club or individual who wants to join them.  Projects have to be proposed the the state office on October 1st.  If you have a pet service project that you'd like to have considered, contact Judy Sweet at 870-261-1730.

Crowley's Ridge Vo-Tech BBQ (October 3rd)

Crowley’s Ridge Technical Institute will be hosting their 27th annual Vo-Tech Barbecue Friday, October 3rd. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. The drive thru will be open from 4-7 p.m. and the Student Center from 5-8 p.m. Door prizes will be given away hourly, and the Cummins Prison Band will provide entertainment until 9 p.m. 633-5411 for more info.

Children's Museum's 4th Annual Children's Ball (October 3rd & 4th)

The Children’s Museum in Memphis is having their 4th annual Children’s Ball. It will be themed after the movie “Frozen.” There are two dates to pick from: Friday, October 3rd, or Saturday, October 4th. This formal-attire event includes dinner and activities. Parents must accompany the children, and reservations are required. Tickets for members are $35 a person and non-members are $50 a person. Fishing Derby (October 4th)

Area kids are invited to participate in a Fishing Derby Saturday, Oct. 4, from 9 to noon at the Pond at the Sports Complex.  Prizes and ribbons will be given for biggest fish, smallest fish, and most fish.  Bring your gear, including bait.  Kids under 13 must be accompanied by an adult; kids 16 and older need to bring a fishing license.  Registration is 9 to 9:30.  Bring your own snack and water.

Moro Homecoming (October 4th)

The annual Moro Homecoming is Saturday, Oct. 4.  The Tasters Luncheon is from 11:00 to 1:00, $6 for adults and $3 for kids.  The fish fry starts at 5:00 in the old school lunchroom, $10 a plate.  Activities for kids include fire truck rides, cart rides, and more.  For booth information, call Judy Floyd at 768-4406, -4706, or -5024.

Rummage Sale (October 4th)

The Junior Auxiliary of Forrest City is having a rummage sale this Saturday, Oct. 4, from 6:00 to noon at the Campbell House.  They're also accepting donations for the sale--dropoff spots are Sassy Image and Crestpark Nursing Home.  All proceeds benefit the children of St. Francis County.

Golf Cart Safari (October 5th)

Forrest City Medical will be having the Women’s Expo. It will be at the EACC Fine Arts Center again this year. Palestine’s L’Anguille River Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 11, beginning at 9 a.m. Activities include a barbecue cook-off, bungee jumping, an archery contest, silent auction, and crafts.

Tim Baty Fundraiser (October 18th)

A fundraiser for Tim Baty is being held at the Progressive Club in Wynne on Saturday, Oct. 18.  There will be a barbecue, auction, and live music by The Last Chance Band and the Swamp Cats.  All proceeds go toward medical bills.

CPR Classes Forrest City Medical Center offers community CPR classes on the second Tuesday of every month from 8 a.m. to noon. The class is held in the hospital’s in-service classroom.
